Steps To Achieve Certification & Examination Requirements Student enrolments
~~~ Hours for Hairstyling Must complete no less than 1600 hours in no less than 43 weeks in a licensed school under the direct supervision of a Certified Hairstyling Instructor At the discretion of the school, students may go on work term for 120 hours to 250 hours. Work experience must be completed in a licensed salon under the direct supervision of a licensed certified hairstylist. Hours will not be credited if achieved in an invalid salon and certified hairstylist. Students can not work on clients prior to achieving 160 hours of training. Student registrations are valid for one year; however, an extension can be given for one additional year to complete training. If a student has not completed said hours within the two years, they must make application to the Examining & Licensing Committee for approval. After completing 300 hours of training a student may apply for an assistant license and be employed as an assistant during the course of their training. Students can not be employed in a salon until they have successfully completed 1600 hours of training and received a diploma from the school. Students will be granted 50 hours of lab time. This time is to be used for students who attend trade shows, have guest speakers attend school while the instructor is out, substitute teacher; library visit; industry related seminars. All students are required to be examined by the Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick, and upon successfully passing the examination, may receive a certified hairstylist license. ~~~ Hours for Aesthetics Must complete no less than 900 hours of training in no less than 24 weeks in a licensed school under the direct supervision of a Certified Aesthetic Instructor. A total of 100 hours will be granted for work experience and lab hours. Hours for work experience can only be granted to students who achieved them in a licensed certified salon under a licensed certified aesthetician. Students are not permitted to be employed until they have successfully completed 900 hours and received diploma from their school. ~~~ Hours for Nail Technicians Must complete no less than 350 hours of training in no less than 8 weeks in a licensed school under the direct supervision of a Certified Nail or Aesthetic Instructor.
Students may complete work experience hours. In order to achieve said hours they must be accumulated in a licensed salon under the direct supervision of a licensed certified nail technician or aestheticians. Nail Technician Examination Guidelines & Nail Technician Examination Requirements FEES:
~~~ Hours for Make-up Artist Must complete no less than 300 hours of training in no less than 6 weeks in a licensed school under the direct supervision of a Certified Make-up Artist or Aesthetic Instructor. Student may complete work experience hours. In order to achieve said hours they must be accumulated in a licensed salon under the direct supervision of a licensed certified Make-up Artist or Aesthetician .
